Escape to the beyond. Photo, by Irish Artist Chris Hayes.
The thick black outline, which is really the trunk of the tree, sets the scene. When we look up we see the tree tower over us, we are made feel small. Looking upwards we imagine, and delve into fantasy.
I don’t want to take pictures that are too obvious. Reality exists in time and space. Time cannot exist without space, and vice versa. When one takes a photo, you present space but without time, as the scene is frozen still forever. It takes a careful eye and the right moment to capture space in just such a way that it is not silent, dead and frozen.
By taking a photo which is obscured, abstracted or at least shows us an uncommon reality, we transcend our dull and grey reality, and step into Art.
