This is from a series of life paintings I did from a model in art college.
They aren’t perfect paintings, but they aren’t meant to be. Their imperfections are a testiment to their originality and the passion which lies right in the centre of them. I did not want to merely replicate the bare bones of reality, the solid and stiff retinal image. I wanted to capture what we truly value, which is the passions of the human being.
Most were done in about 1 hour or less from direct observation of a model. They are quick sketches which breathe and come alive on the page.
